Therefore, visiting Ashton-Under-Lyne is a great idea, with a range of fun activities within reach and a bunch of businesses eager to reel you in. Here are 3 Exciting Days Out In Ashton-Under-Lyne.

Portland Basin Museum

For Historical Interests
Open 10am - 4pm from Tuesday to Sunday

Portland Basin Museum is housed in a restored 19th-century canal warehouse, featuring exhibits that dive into the deep history of Ashton-Under-Lyne’s key industries.

You will find intriguing memorabilia stored here, such as cotton spinning machinery, textile stations and engineering tools; all from a completely different era.

An entertaining aspect we have to mention are the interactive exhibitions, including arts and crafts workshops, perfectly suitable for a group outing. In addition, there is a recreated ‘street scene’ depicting how life in Tameside was during the early 20th century. This includes a pub and tram, which look nothing like they do today!

Admission to the museum is free of charge, ideal for budget conscious travellers. However, you can still buy coffee and snacks as you survey or spend a few quid at the souvenir shop on your way out.

Ladysmith Centre

For Shopping Purposes
Open 9am-6pm from Monday to Saturday, 10am - 4pm on Sunday

A mix of national chain stores and independent retailers, Ladysmith Centre is always a good place to fill your shopping bags.

Need a bite to eat before mooching around? Ajwa Sandwich Bar or Gold Medal Fish & Chips are tasty options, but you can also grab a traditional Greggs or Pound Bakery if that’s your preference. Foodies will find it hard to make it up their mind when visiting Ashton-Under-Lyne.

Fashionistas can also rest easy, with over 10 clothing stores within walking distance of the shopping centre, including Peacocks, JD Sports, Bonmarché and more.

IKEA Manchester is only around the corner too, in case you’re looking to liven up your living space with some quality furniture.

It would take a long while to list off every vendor in Ladysmith Centre, so if you’re eager to see what’s on you should head down there.
