3 Reasons Why You Should Be Renting In Ashton-Under-Lyne

Renting a property in Ashton can be an affordable and convenient option for those looking to live in Greater Manchester. With a wide array of properties available and easy access to transportation, the town is a popular choice for renters.

Deep History

Ashton has a rich history, with evidence of human activity in the area going back to the Neolithic period. The market town is home to a number of attractions, including the Portland Basin Museum, Ashton Market and the beautiful Peak District is visible from all over the town.

In the Middle Ages, Ashton-under-Lyne was an important centre for the wool trade, and the town's market dates back to at least the 1300s. In the 16th century the town's fortunes were boosted by the discovery of a coal seam, and the first coal mine soon followed in 1569.

As time progressed, the town's economy diversified, with engineering and electrical goods manufacturing becoming important industries in the 19th century. Like much of the industrial hubs, Ashton was tragically bombed in WW2 with many of it’s historic buildings destroyed.
